Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Are you Wearing Pink?
According to Cancer.org, one out of eight women will be faced with breast cancer at some point in their lifetimes. However, with early detection and prompt treatment, over 90 percent of those diagnosed will beat the disease.
October has been designated National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Across the country, local and national organizations will host events, seminars and screenings designed to bring attention and awareness to this potentially devastating disease.
In keeping with that, many local businesses are helping support breast cancer awareness through a number of special offerings. J. Philipp Centers for Family and Cosmetic Dentistry (located on Gilbert Road in Chandler, AZ) is partnering with My Hope Bag to offer Hope Bags for women diagnosed with the disease. During the month of October, they are accepting supplies such as pink ribbon merchandise, inspirational CDs, money or other useful supplies to support women on the road to recovery.
On Thursday, October 24, 2013, Rico’s American Grill will again host its annual wine dinner in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m..; each plate is $38 per person and all participants must have a reservation. Profits from the evening are donated to local non-profit organizations.
Throughout the month of October 2013, Networks Bar & Grill (located inside the Hyatt Regency in downtown Phoenix) is partnering with BreastCancer.org in the fight for a cure. Networks has put a special cocktail on the menu, featuring anti-oxidant rich black currant juice, for $10. Half of each purchase of this special cocktail is donated to BreastCancer.org. You may also donate online.
