Memorial Day Weekend Events in Mesa!

memorial dayMemorial Day Weekend in Mesa, Arizona signals the start of the summer season. Kids are almost out of school for the year and families are out enjoying the holiday weekend.


Mesa Cemetery Memorial Day Observation

Keeping with the traditional meaning of the holiday, The Mesa Cemetery hosts a Memorial Day remembrance every year. The staff at the cemetery helps visitors locate their loved one’s grave sites and hand out flags.

Salt River Tubing

With the temperatures reaching the triple digits, some families spend the day on Salt River tubing. Memorial Day weekend is also the start of its “no littering campaign” Trash bags are handed out so tubers can pick up trash in and on the river bed as they float by. Another popular event is called the floating picnic where the tubers link their tubes together and enjoy a day of great food, beverages, conversations and tubing fun!

Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park

The Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park holds a yearly memorial service on Memorial Day with guest speakers that provide inspirational messages. Speakers are generally experts and often times well-known self-help individuals and authors. In addition, military honors are announced and refreshments are provided.

Golfland SunSplash

Why not spend a few hours or the entire day at Golfland Sunsplash. You can play miniature golf, ride the water slides, swim in the pool, and float down the lazy river. The entire family will enjoy the arcade and the family fun center.

Memorial Day Veterans Celebration

Veterans and their family as well as the public can enjoy the following events.

  • Presentation of Colors by the Luke Air Force Base Honor Guard
  • Dave Webb, a local musician, will perform various wartime songs and a musical tribute to the four branches of the U.S.
  • Food and beverages
